Limited edition Screen Print hand printed at the People's Workshop in the PRSC HQ.
Designed by PRSC's own in-house artist CJ, Blessed combines lines from Mark Aguhar's poem Litanies to my Heavenly Brown Body with tenets and slogans from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in celebration of 30 years of the Sisters spreading joy and acceptance in the UK.
The Order of Perpetual Indulgence
The Sisters and Brothers of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence are part of a worldwide group of queer people of all sexualities.
Formed around 1979 in response to attacks on the queer community by fundamentalist religious organisations, its tenets are:
- The expiation of stigmatic guilt, and
- The promulgation of universal joy
By presenting themselves in the habit of nuns, the sisters and brothers challlenge gender stereotypes and the oppression of organised religious orthodoxy, which still refuses to accept queers as being equal members of society with a right to their sexuality.
The order is not a religious order, nor is it anti religion. Many within the Order observe a religious or spiritual life. Others do not. The order is open to all who feel the call to join!🔈 Listen to Novice Niche Whimsy and PRSC's Lisa Furness discussing this collaboration.
