Deconstructed Willow Pattern Straight-sided Jug

Unique landscapes made using a mixture of familiar and beautiful sets of the classic Willow Pattern.
The famous blue and white Willow Pattern was an 18th century English interpretation of fashionable hand painted ware from China. The legend of the Willow Pattern evolved as an early marketing ploy by Minton.
Our very limited stocks of three versions of Willow pattern (including Spode and English Ironstone) have been pulled apart and reconstructed to form surreal landscapes that encourage you look again at the quality of the transfer.
The unlikely story of their survival, and re-creation through Stokes Croft China and ceramicist Bev Milward, make this body of work a highly desirable piece of ceramic history.
Twice fired to 1080 degrees to bring out the richness of the cobalt blue, each piece is unique, hand decorated and bears Bev's maker's mark, a key.
The Deconstructed Willow Pattern line comes in a variety of china ware, which can be found in our shop in Bristol.
* We decorate each of these pieces by hand so no two are alike - pattern placement may vary from pictured item.
The Artist: Bev Milward
Originally conceived by Bev during her time as our studio manager, this design remains a staple of Stokes Croft China's offerings.
Bev Milward is an established maker working in porcelain. She is interested in the longevity and sentimentality of ceramics, how they infiltrate our lives and can be used as a tool for communication long after leaving the maker. Her distinctive landscape collaged pieces have a strong narrative in common with her porcelain work.
