Bewilderment Cards

Kitchen Table Photo Club presents Bewilderment Cards, a series of photographic playing cards and creative prompts made by local kids with Esther May Campbell and old analogue cameras.

Kitchen Table Photo Club is a loose, informal gathering of people that meet to play with photography, have conversations and be social.

Over the #COVID-19 #lockdowns, the club had to adapt and sent out bespoke Community Art Packages to local families stuck inside. These boxes consisted of props, half frame analogue cameras and hand-drawn cards to be used as prompts to make photographs from. At the same time, women in the community made crowns and masks, embedding them with special powers. These were added to the care packages.

Once restrictions were lifted, the club met in gardens, parks and made trips to a local woodland to continue riffing off the hand drawn prompts. What resulted are these wondrous, limited edition deck of cards.

Bewilderment Cards come from exploring the common places we inhabit on a regular basis, to see what might be unveiled if we listen with deer ears, sense the soil beneath feet and the vast universe above.
