In case you’re not aware of the wonderful Nick Hayes, he’s a writer, illustrator and campaigner for land access and land justice. His recent resurrection of the Right to Roam campaign highlighted the on-going battle with private interests for access to our countryside and Nick contributed to an illuminating and enlivening talk on ‘Who Owns the Land’ during PRSC's School of Activism earlier this year.
As the traditional giver of the middle finger to the gamekeepers of the landed gentry and, perhaps, the ultimate symbol of life doing what it must to adapt and thrive in the city, the fox has been adopted as the mascot for Stokes Croft Land Trust. The choice was an obvious one as we are fighting on different sides of the same coin.... Nick’s Book of Trespass calls for protections against private ownership of land in the countryside so that there is free and fair access to wild open green land for all. SCLT are mirroring that fight in the inner city to take urban land out of private, competitive ownership so that rather than profit being the only motive, instead it is free and fair access to the buildings, institutions and identity of our city.
Stokes Croft China recently collaborated with Nick to bring you this new collection of china based on the striking illustrations from his Book of Trespass.
