Do No Harm

Primum non nocere (First, do no harm), or non-maleficence is a key ethical principle of being a doctor.
Also stated as, "given an existing problem, it may be better not to do something, or even to do nothing, than to risk causing more harm than good", it reminds physicians to consider the possible harm that any intervention might do. It is invoked when debating the use of an intervention that carries an obvious risk of harm but a less chance of benefit.
The origin of the phrase is not, as widely thought, the Hippocratic Oath, traditionally taken by medical students at the culmination of their training, but 'Foundation for a New Theory and Practice of Medicine' by Thomas Inman (1860).
Available in two variants: 'Do No Harm' on the front, or 'Do No Harm' on the front with the additional words 'But Take No Shit' on the inside.
Material: English Fine Bone China
