When That Art Gallery in Bristol closed on March 23, 2020 for the first COVID-19 lockdown, the gallery launched an 'open call' for images inspired by COVID to be displayed in the gallery windows.
The lockdown challenge was to consider how a gallery unable to open could involve a disconnected public by sharing insights of the unprecedented situation which everyone was experiencing.
The gallery on Upper Maudlin St is a stone’s throw from one of Bristol’s major hospitals and although the public had been ordered to Stay Home the city’s essential workers and NHS staff continued to pass the now empty windows of the gallery.
This book includes 204 pictures by 182 contributors, whose work was exhibited in the windows of the closed gallery during the 1st UK lockdown in 2020.
Massive thanks to all the contributors for their vision and support.
Compiled by Andy Phipps, That Art Gallery, Bristol.
50% of profit from sales will be donated to Creative Youth Network.
