His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk. He is the spiritual leader of Tibet. he was born on the 6 July 1935, to a farming family, in northeastern Tibet. At the age of two, the child was recognised as the reincarnation of the previous 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso. The Dalai Lamas are believed to be manifestations of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Bodhisattvas are realised beings inspired by a wish to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings, who have vowed to be reborn in the world to help humanity.

The Artist: Chris Chalkley
Founder of PRSC, Chris studied Economics and Philosophy at Bristol University, drove buses, sold puppets and worked variously as a market trader, wholesaler, retailer and importer of china and glassware for over thirty years. Having worked as a wholesaler and retailer, Chris is well versed in traditional styles of ware. He tends to ignore all the rules and his pieces are known for their rough immediacy and challenging technique.
