Disembodied skulls of gold float gently across the cosmos in this striking contemporary design.
Popular in the seventeenth century, skulls and other motifs such as the hourglass and extinguished candles have been used in painting and sculpture as Memento Mori.
Its purpose is to remind us of our mortality and how life is fleeting and transient, not to scare us but to be grateful and to seize each day.
Real gold skulls and salvaged late 60s Stardust pattern are combined in balanced but random ways, so no two pieces are the same.
The Artist: Chris Chalkley
